A pet owner and all-around animal lover, Amy Elliot-Meisel proudly supports the Adopt, Don’t Shop campaign. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with local animal rescue initiatives and fostering dogs.
If you want to stump Amy Elliot-Meisel, just ask her if she’s a dog person or a cat person. She won’t be able to tell you. Her answer to that question is and always will be an enthusiastic “both!” An all-around animal lover, Amy grew up around cats, dogs and plenty of other animals. Pets have always been more than just animals to Amy, whose family pets have always been just that: family. That’s part of the reason she is so passionate about the Adopt, Don’t Shop campaign, which highlights the importance and benefits of adopting animals from rescues and shelters.
Animal Rescue Organizations
In Amy Elliot-Meisel’s free time, she enjoys volunteering with and supporting animal rescue organizations, including the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Best Friends Animal Society and Alley Cat Allies. Amy also proudly supports her local town shelter, where she has volunteered in the past.
Pet Fostering
In the past, Amy Elliot-Meisel has fostered rescue pups while they awaited placement in their forever homes. Although she knows firsthand that volunteers do everything they can to make animals comfortable at the shelter, there is something special about being able to place rescues in temporary foster homes. Unfortunately, shelters can quickly become overcrowded. Fostering programs offer an alternative to having to turn animals away. Foster pet parents are also able to give their furry visitors all the personal attention they could want, which is difficult to guarantee in a rescue environment.
